the {or one of the} biggest challenges for me

and i'm sure i'm not alone here,

is knowing what's for dinner.

i was doing a weekly menu and then well...

ya know ~~babies~~ life happened. :)

so new for this year

i printed these:

2012 Printable Calendar

on whisper white card stock,

rounded the corners & added them to a clipboard.

then i went through our recipe binders & basket and filled in the WHOLE month. and there ya go, we now have a menu for the month!

so far, so good.

it is nice to know what we are having and the groceries bought for the week. i can start dinner, feed the babies at 5 and we eat at about 6 or so depending on when greg gets home from work.

and if by chance something comes up or we have to switch a night it's OK!

at least we have a plan.

all in the past month!

today was a great day here at home.

we have lots to be thankful for.

especially thankful for the boys and the baby boys!

we fooled evan & jabin with this turkey filled with popcorn.

{they LOVED it!}

got the idea from *here*.

i had gone to my mom's and she is the one who actually made the turkey!

heaven forbid i touch a turkey. real or fake! lol

greg got a 20 pound turkey from work.

so we cooked that with all the fixings for our family of 6.

that's a lot of food since the babies don't even eat yet!

we made the pumpkin pie yesterday with grandma audrey.

we had some family over tonight and it was fun to visit.

by the end of the night we were all tired.

jabin & reagan even fell asleep together in the chair.

i'm off to bed too.

i won't be out shopping tomorrow...

i just made my list and i am sending

greg to menards for me since

he is going to work anyway.

{what a nice guy! :)}

we even traced gavin & reagan's little hands and

{...and it's not easy to trace the hands of 10 week olds!}

on saturday october 1st

we went to pick the pumpkins we planted in

win & jane's garden.

it was a quick trip in between feedings,

and the babies never got out of the van.

the big boys had enough time to climb the ladder and pick apples,

pick pumpkins & gourds and dig up some carrots!

Here are Evan & Jabin on August 17th 2003 in the front entrance of St. John's Hospital with Lucy. This was the day Evan came home.

Fast forward 8 years to September 18th 2011 and here are Evan & Jabin with Gavin & Reagan on the day Gavin came home from the hospital!

We could not wait to take this final picture at the hospital with all four boys before we ALL headed HOME!

Jabin won a poster contest at school. The prize: $20!! Here he is with his poster and THE BIG CHECK!

Evan lost a tooth. That earned him $1. The {silly} tooth fairy left his tooth though!

The babies are HOME!! Reagan came home on Friday Sept 16th. Gavin came home on Sept 18th. Greg was home all last week. It was SO nice to have the babies home and to have him here! He went back to work Monday and they are SUPER busy so he will be working a ton of overtime. :( {Yes, we are SO thankful he has a job and can work overtime, the money is nice ...but he would like to see all of us too!}

We are all adjusting to life with two new babies. I am tired. Thankgoodness for helpers! We've waited SO long for this, so I am just tring to take it day by day and enjoy every minuet of it too!

soon, very soon, we will get a {real} family picture!

our little babies are one week old!

tonight was the first time we had the chance to take a picture of them side-by-side!!

reagan is an eating machine!

he is off the iv's and in a crib now.

they told us today to get ready because he will be home before we know it!

gavin continues to improve each day!

he is off his breathing tubes and is slowly working on bottle feedings.

i am slowly recovering myself.

we are very thankful for our family and friends who have been helping us this week.

it is hard to leave your babies at the hospital that is *almost* and hour away.

we are also very thankful for the nurses and doctors taking care of gavin & reagan!

some of the nurses remember taking care of evan & jabin and can't believe they are taking care of their new twin brothers 8 years later!! :)

these two have some pretty proud BIG brothers!!

i came home from the hospital on monday.

it was so hard to leave the babies there,

but i know that is the best place for them!

they continue to do well every day.

we look forward to the day when we can bring them home!!

they both are SUPER excited for their new adventure, they start at a new school, no more elementary school for them! it's now the intermediate school!

i am glad that i got to see them go off on the bus today. **

greg even went in to work a little late so he could get them on the bus with me.

and after school our tradition of chocolate chip cookies will continue.

** NOT that i am glad they are off to school, i'm just glad that i was home to see them go off to school and to make them cookies today! it has been one of those things that i didn't want to miss by being in the hospital! :)

i {love} working with wallet sized photos. but let's face it they can be a little expensive at your favorite photo printer. i came across this site and FREE program one day... and i am hooked!!

PhotoSheet-Photility

i like that i can quickly create 2 wallet sized photos on a 4x6 print, up-load or take the picture file to the printer and WHAAAAAW... 2 wallets for around 13 cents! {or however much a 4x6 print is.}

this past weekend the boys went to stay with grandpa doug and grandma linda. they did all sorts of fun things and my dad kept me up-dated by sending me pictures from his phone. {LOVED THAT!}

if i wanted to print the pictures as a 4x6 they would not turn out very good. {yep-i've tested that before!} so my solution... to use PhotoSheet to make wallet sized photos and print them out!!

...it is hard to tell but there is a white boarder around the two wallet pictures to make a 4x6 picture.

AND the BEST part {for me anyway} is that you can pick two different images for the wallet sized, 4x6 print combo....

i print LOTS of photos that way for our project life album. since sometimes i can't just pick one picture for the day! also, i print lots of wallets for scrapbook pages since you can add so many to a one or two page layout!

{oh babies}

i'll start off by saying {NO} the babies have not arrived... yet!

i have made three trips to the hospital already to stop contractions.

once @ 26 6/7 weeks,

@ 28 3/7 weeks

and again at 32 weeks.

i doesn't take much to go from this...

...trying to get some cleaning and work done in my stamp room on tuesday 8/16.

to this...

...ending up at the hospital wednesday 8/17 for an over-nighter...

...and coming home and being put on bedrest. :(

on wednesday 8/24 i will be 33 weeks along.

{BTW~evan and jabin were born at 33 weeks!}

we are trying to get past 34 weeks this time around.

so i don't have any fun stamping projects to share with you.

...and i had just received my order of new holiday mini items! {darn it!} i had wanted to make a few things and post them, but that isn't going to happen. sorry.

for us school starts sept 1st.

first, you should know that {I LOVE SCHOOL SUPPLIES} always have, and i'm sure i always will! when the supplies hit the shelves in july, i am super excited!! one year i bought crayons for the boys and when i went to put them away i already had 13 boxes!

{it's true! and hey they were only like 20 cents a box!}

...and another thing, i'm just excited about the "supply" part~ NOT the sending my boys off to school on the bus part! there is a BIG difference!

labeling school supplies:

these little labels have come in SO handy! just print a sheet with your child's name and label away! i keep extra name labels on hand and my boys know where to find them to use. it never fails we are racing to get out the door and one or both of them want to bring a book or magazine to look at on the bus or they have something in a baggie to share with the class. i use to have to tell them to get a label, now they just know were to find them and add it on their own.

lunch box notes:
get some stickers, post-it notes and a sharpie. write a note and put it in your child's lunch box! they will love you for it and soon they will look forward to it! little jokes seem to be a big hit with my boys too! last year evan would share them with the lunch lady, she liked them too!

how to store the school papers you want to keep:

in these totes i set up legal sized files, one file for each year of school and one file box for each of my boys. this is where i store the stuff i want to keep or might want to use in their school scrapbooks. i keep a copy paper box for extra large art projects and store them in there after i take a picture of the art/project.

i {LOVE} this system!!

homework/supply area:

the boys & i spent some time cleaning out the "old" papers in our den and getting ready for the new school year to start. on these shelves we have sharpened pencils, erasers, scissors, rulers, calculators, crayons, markers, colored pencils, drawing paper clip boards and "other" stuff as you can see. :)

they know where the stuff is so it makes doing homework easier because they don't have to hunt for the supplies they need. they can also draw, color and create because they have supplies ready for them to use. {and i love when they color pictures for me!}

so, i hope i've given you a few ideas of "what i like to do" to get ready for the new school year!!

yes, i realize it's been a month since i posted last.

it's summer.

it's been busy.

camping, summer school, camping, swimming lessons, growing babies, baseball, hospital visits, TRYING to take it easy, getting ready for the babies, shopping, a babie"S" shower, playing lego, taking an on-line finding photo freedom class, scrapbooking, sorting pictures, getting ready for evan & jabin's 8th birthday and lots of dr appointments. i'm sure there is more but ya know it's early and i can't think straight.

are you tired just from reading that?

i'm tired just just doing all that!

we are 29 weeks pregnant today.

we keep telling the babies we can't wait to meet you,

BUT- you need to stay in there for at least 5 more weeks!

{we'll see how that goes.}

i'll {try} to post some FUN stuff soon.

...because after all we have been doing some fun stuff too! :)

baby news part 2....

we had our 20 week ultrasound appointment on tuesday.

i picked the boys up early from school, they were SO excited for the BIG DAY!! the day they would find out if they were getting brothers, sisters or one of each!

we picked up my mom & amanda and met greg at the doctor's office.

so what did we find out????

evan and jabin are getting....

BROTHERS!

yep, twin boys again.

we are so excited!

they both are growing right on track for their due date of oct 12th.

{...if we make it that far!}

the boys had {baby report} charts to fill out during the ultrasound appointment. they took them to school the next day to share the news with their classes. i didn't get a picture yet, but i'll post one when i do. they were so cute! :)

now to shop for boy stuff!!

there is LOTS to do before i get a bigger baby belly and can't do much.

{trust me i know, i've done this before!}

mother's day 2011

i know it was last week, but ya know!

greg just took a picture of the boys & i yesterday so that's why i didn't post sooner!

friday {may 6th} i had picked up some cook books at a sale went to a few more sales, went to work and came home to meet the boys. when the boys were about to get off the bus, the bus driver opened her window and told me i couldn't look! the boys got of the bus and RAN to the house!! then told me i couldn't go in their room. they seen the cook books i bought and started looking through them. evan said he could get "mega" ideas from them. next thing i know they had taken them to their room. again, i couldn't go in there!

saturday {may 7th} greg's family came over for a visit. it was such a nice day. we had lunch, played ball with the boys and did a little wii bowling!

sunday {may 8th} the boys woke up early and got greg up, they shut the bedroom door and i stayed in bed. here the boys had "planned" to make me breakfast and brought it to me in bed. they made hashbrowns, blueberry muffins and orange tang & brought it to me on a tray. it was so sweet! i took a few bites, but then moved to the kitchen because i wanted to eat with them.

after breakfast i opened my gifts from them. i {LOVED} the cards and things they made for me at school. those kinds of gifts are the best! :)

he even wrote me a letter and told me that i was "the best mom in the galixy".

with a letter that said "your are the best mom of all".

after ALL that we went outside to get to work on planting the flowers and plants that our neighbor friend jane gave us.

here is a before picture:

it was a BIG job and after we started greg told me that we had to go to menards to get the mulch to put over the landscape fabric so that it wouldn't blow away. so, we worked for a while then went to menards for mulch and a few more flowers. came home and had to finish the job. by then it had started to rain, but we kept working and got the job DONE!!

i {LOVE, LOVE, LOVE} the little boots with the flowers in them! these were jabin & evan's boots that were old and full of cracks. i had thrown them away last summer, THEN seen the idea so i dug them out of the garbage so i could do this! {gross i know, but i'm glad i did it!}

i had a WONDERFUL mother's day with my family, even with all the work we did, and then feeling the pain of "gardening" work for the next few days, i will still call it WONDERFUL!

...it helps that the boys get so excited about the day and make me feel SO special. i remember the days of wanting to be a mom, when mother's day brought me sadness. i am SO thankful to be a mom, it's what i've always {wanted} to be.

Did anyone Scrapbook on Saturday??
It was National Scrapbooking Day.
I didn't. We had the Greg's Family over for the afternoon. It was such fun day. We were outside enjoying the weather!!

I have been keeping up with taking a picture a day this year, I just need to catch-up on the journaling! I have finished a few other 12x12 pages. BUT, I have {lots} more to do! ...don't we all?? :)

If you didn't find time over the weekend to get a few things done maybe you can find some time to stamp a few cards or finish a few scrapbook pages sometime this month. Good Luck!!

I will just be doing a Monthly Stamp Club to make 6 cards for $10 for as long as I can, then I will be taking a couple months of monthly Stamp Clubs off after the babies are born. I will keep you up-dated here on my blog.

i just *might* need to make some of these scissor tags for myself!

the aw-esome bag has a&w rootbeer in it! :)

next week i am going to school one day to bring evan's class to lunch so that the teacher's can have a full hour long lunch. i am so excited to help out. it is the least i can do for the teacher's who mean so much to us and are SO very good to our boys.

the boys will be going to new school building next year, i will miss seeing their past teachers!

after going to town, going to a few garage sales and taking a nap at my mom's friday afternoon, i brought kaylee jo home with me so she could spend the night. when we pulled in the driveway she kept saying "boys, boys!", well it was only 3 and the boys come home at 4 so we had an hour to play. her favorite was to sit at the boys' little table in their room and play with the legos. then she got up on evan's bed and found the "piggie" the she looked at me and said "puppy?" she knows he has a piggie and a puppy! so we found the puppy and she was SO excited!

when it was time to walk down and get the boys off the bus she was squealing with excitement! saying "boys" & "bus" over & over again! when the bus did get here we thought it might tip over from the kids coming over to "our" side to see kaylee. she did look so cute in her little coat & pink mud boots! :)

we had a fun night and we learned {once again} that our house is NOT baby/toddler proof! lucky we have a few months to work on that! kaylee went to bed good for us and slept all night! {BONUS!}

saturday morning jabin went in the guest room to get her up. we heard him on the monitor. he said "out" and then kaylee said "out". then he took her hand and lead her to our room. she was full of smiles! then we showed the kids the few inches of snow that had fallen overnight! kaylee kept saying "no, no". i know she was trying to say snow, but i was thinking no, no! i am so sick of the snow!

we had some breakfast {greg has been making me.. us.. some kick-butt hash browns!}, did some cleaning and went to Win & Jane's house to see their new baby chicks! they had just hatched on monday and were so cute!!

kaylee would say "chickies" and "peep, peep".

after that we came home, the boys had a friend over to play and nicci came to pick-up kaylee. in the afternoon we brought riley home and we went to eat, did some shopping at target and went to the movies. yep, another date night spent with our kids. {really that is ok with us, but maybe just once we could go out alone!} we better do that soon, it will be even harder to find a sitter for 4! ;)

i hope you had a good weekend!!

today i feel pretty good so i am {trying} to catch-up on everything!

i do have some exciting news to share!!

evan and jabin are going to have brothers or sisters or maybe even one of each!

i am pregnant with twins.

yep, the first two were twins and now after 7 years of {waiting} we are expecting twins, again.

we are all SO excited.

they are due oct 12th.

we hope to find out what we are having at the end of may.

for now i am just praying that the babies continue to grow and are healthy.

{and that the don't arrive too early! ...the boys were born at 33 weeks.}

so i may not be posting much, but i am here. i was pretty sick for awhile, but am doing better. i just keep taking it easy.

last night the scrap n' stampers stamped 83 cards for Interfaith Caregivers of Polk Co. we had 5 card styles and just did an assembly line to complete them.

we kept the cards very simple and left off the buttons & brads so they would be easy to mail.

i got the idea from angie~i just added the cherry cobbler card base. this card features the set Bold Blossom from page 31 of the occasions mini catalog.

and the final card features the Sale-A-Bration set Sweet Summer.

i made this little layout for e & j.

{i made them each one for "their" scrapbooks.}

i tend to be a keep-it-SIMPLE scrapper.

while i was on the retreat i used my friend sandy's cricut cartridge called Wild West. i don't own a cricut ...{yet}... but carrie was SO generous and let me use hers. i had fun cutting out letters for my pages. when i seen the {outlaw} i knew i had to cut it out with an extra "s" because i thought of this picture i had of the boys.

i am reminded of these little things:

the boys were 3 1/2 and still in their cribs.
we lived in the "rental".
grandma kc sent the cowboy hats from texas.
they were riding our rocking sheep lulu. {a gift greg bought me for my birthday in 2003.}
how much i loved those shirts.
how well they would play together. {and still do... most of the time :)}
how blessed we are.

last friday i packed up my scrapbooking things, wrote a chalkboard note to my boys and i was off for a girls scrapbooking weekend!
ok, ok, so it wasn't that easy to just run out the door. LOTS of {planning} go into these weekends! this was my 3rd retreat and *this* year i wanted a plan of what i was going to work on and i didn't want to bring my WHOLE stamp room. {...again!}

this year i made {packets}.

a few of my friends {kelsey & angie} are ALL about the packets! there are many different kinds of {packets} but i kept mine simple.

i started by:

determining what i wanted to scrapbook
got the pictures ready or got them ready to be printed
picked out the papers i wanted to use
if i had journaling done i printed that to the size i wanted or just made notes
found what stamps, punches, ink colors, ribbons, buttons, etc. i wanted and added it to a pile.

after everything was collected i added the pictures {some i had to add later after i printed them}, papers and smaller embellishments to a plastic 12x12 storage pouch.

if i had a sketch idea i also added that to the packet.

and me, just being me, i typed out a master list of the packets i made.

here are some of the packets that i made up and put in my basket:

in my SU! tote i had my scissors, adhesive and the other essentials.

after i made my packets i organized everything in a few totes:
chick flicks are a must!
i also brought a few IRIS 12x12 holders.
two hold my on-going projects and i brought an empty one to put my finished pages in. food. {and drinks!}
you can't go the weekend without eating and or drinking! i was a good girl and only had my pepsi. :) we had pizza friday night and then divided up the rest of the meals for the weekend. here was my table while i was working.
i LOVED my little {set-up}.
i also used carrie's cricut a lot and some of the other cartridges the girls had with!
{thanks again everyone for sharing!!} it was so much fun to hang out with the girls for the weekend,
and as always, it was nice to come back home to my boys.

a little progress...

i've {only} had these black frames for two years,

and my stamp room for six months,

but as of FRIDAY

i have the frames filled with pictures

AND

...get this...

i have them hanging on the wall!!

first, i made a list of the frame sizes. then, i picked out the pictures i wanted in the frames, ordered the prints from sams, in the sizes that i needed, and picked them up on thursday when i was in woodbury for an appointment.

{BTW~ THANKS for bringing me angie!! :)}

friday morning i put the pictures in the frames.

{i broke one pc of glass in the 4x6 frame of greg & i! darn-it!!}

then i laid the frames out on the table to see how i wanted them to look on the wall:

here was the wall space i was working with...

and this is how it ended up...

i realize it is NOT perfect...

but i wasn't going for perfect...

i was going for

"just get it done so you can enjoy it"!

and that is just what i have been doing ever since.

today greg hung up a few other things for me.

--like my black shelf of jars and a cork board.

{i should have let him hang up all the frames!! he is so good at that kind if thing!}

i was also working on sorting and putting away printed pictures.

that is {ALL} part of cleaning up my "desk".

i just haven't been able to do as much as i've wanted to do lately,

and i'm OK** with that.

a {little} progress has been made!

i LOVE how our 2010 album turned out.

my family LOVES the album.

plus...

my family is already use to taking the "picture of the day"
so why end the fun now??

i like that is is a {place} to hold the documentation our everyday life.

a place for little love notes, school papers, drawings, dealing with infertility, movie tickets and even copies of letters that say "i am sorry that you had to stop the bus so you could scold me."

it is the little things that make life BIG!

happy or sad. it is life. it is our life. and it matters to me.

{that's how i feel anyway!}

My stamp Clubs are starting again, but I’ve changed the starting month to FEBRUARY!!

THERE WILL NOT BE A STAMP CLUB IN JANUARY.

I know that I have said they will start in January, but here’s the deal…

A. SALE-A-BRATION. It starts Jan 25th. If I wait to start the Stamp Club, Stamp Club Members can place a $50 product order in February and earn a FREE SALE-A-BRATION Item.

B. It’s me, not you. I have a number of appointments that I need to go to this month and it makes it very hard to plan anything and not be stressed all at the same time.

I think starting in February will be the best for everyone. Thank you for understanding & your support!

I have had to make a few changes to the Stamp Club starting this FEBRUARY. One of them being a RSVP date. You {MUST} RSVP By the date listed below to attend the monthly Stamp Clubs. Stamp Club Members that are unable to attend the Stamp Club {MUST} get their order to my by this date also. Non-Club Members can still RSVP, attend and make the 6 cards for $10. I know this has gone up from $6. Please understand that I have not raised my prices since starting the stamp club and the price of all materials have gone up since. Also, only Club Members will make their cards for FREE each month … SO why not join the club! :)

What to be a Club Member??

Just agree to spend a minimum of $50 in February and a minimum of $25 for 4 months and you will be the Hostess once during the 5 months. The Hostess of the month will pick a Level One hostess item and $15 worth of Free merchandise. PLUS, make the 6 cards each month for FREE! Club Members can attend on Wednesday Morning or Thursday Evening. Just let me know when you RSVP what day you will be attending. If you are unable to attend the Stamp Club your monthly order is due by the RSVP date. You will receive a card kit, from me, with the supplies to make your 6 cards with your club order. i had a dream about my camera last night.

i brought it to a store to be looked at because it wasn't working the best.

they took it away from me and gave me another one to try.

but that wasn't what i wanted i guess.

in my dream it was like they were taking away a family member or something.

i was reaching out for it as they were taking it away to the back room

and i was freaking out and saying "no don't take it away."

{crazy right?}

i thought so!

i know it's not a fancy new camera, but we have had it for SO long {as in march of 2004}, it works great and we have captured SO many moments with it that i guess i am very attached to it.

but why i had to have a dream about it?

who knows!?!

so to my little kodak camera...

i'm sorry that i have dropped you a few times.

you look worn, but you are loved.

i/we have taken a picture EVERYday, so far, in 2010 and you have always been there!

the pictures that i have of my babies, that were captured by you, are priceless to me.

thank you for being a good little camera to our little family.

the candle wrap was made by my mom. she made it for me because she knew it would match my stamp room. :)
the tags were from a christmas class i did last year.
the 12x12 scrapbook page is one i recently did of greg & i with photos we took, at of all places, menards.
i bought the cute little lights and the greenery in the pie plates at bittersweet farm.
i had the mini pie plates & stand i bought from longaberger a while ago.

that is just how i am {trying} to keep things around here.

i'm just not sure how that is working out for me yet!?!

this morning we were running a tad late and had to hustle.

i'm sure it had nothing to do with staying up past 9pm then up before 5am to say bye & i love you to dad, eat the advent chocolate of the day, put together the advent lego surprise and crawl back in bed with mom for a while. ;)

after getting up {again}, getting dressed and a quick breakfast the boys were off to their bathroom to brush their teeth.

i was on my way down the hall to see how the boys were doing

...when jabin ran out of the bathroom.

i must have startled him because he said,

"ahhh.. i thought you were a zombie!"

SO i said,

"i'm not a zombie, i'm your mummy!"

{heheheeee}

i am happy to report that the boys did an amazing job at getting ready in a jiffy and i also made sure i told them how proud i was of them.

they even had a few minuets of {free time} to play in the snow before the bus came.

that seems to be "the thing" lately, to play at the end of the driveway in all the snow with their snow shovels.

with all the snow we received this past weekend the boys had {snow} much fun playing in it!

i {LOVE} these close-up pictures of jabin & evan!!

even greg had fun snow-blowing. he helped the neighbor remove some of the snow from his driveway and in return received farm fresh cheese and frozen blueberries from his garden. he also worked on our sledding hill and made a HUGE pile of snow for the boys to play on.

...so HUGE to the boys that when jabin saw it he said a bad word with a holy in front of it. then he said he was sorry for saying the bad word, but he just "had" to say it!

i enjoyed being warm inside and watching out the window as the boys played together.

we also spent {many} hours together in the lego room cleaning and putting sets together.

"just in case" some boys we know get new legos for christmas...

we want to be prepared!

we had our scrap n' stampers christmas party last night.

we draw names each year and this year i had angie.
i had angie's girls here a few times last summer, so i printed this picture that i took of her girls and put it in a frame. {only i had it printed in b&w}

made her some IKEA tree {trimmings} for the IKEA tree i knew she already had.

i had the {christmas subway} art from *this* blog printed and i framed it.

{and i made sure i made an extra set for myself!}

we just stayed home, did some baking & stamping, put the christmas tree(s) up and decorated the house.

i {LOVE} the glow of white christmas lights at night! :)

we had the herdahl family

thanksgiving + christmas = {thanksmas}
celebration on saturday with my dad's side of the family!

the boys had been waiting and waiting for {thanksmas} so we made a count down on our chalkboard in the kitchen. it was a fun day with good food, family, the kids program, a visit from SANTA and playing the dice game.

i made my grandpa herdahl a lemon poppy seed cake. i {try} to make him one every year. {my mom started the tradition, then i took over.} i *might have* forgot to make him one last year and he asked me about it. {oops!} so i wrote myself a note in my christmas planner so i wouldn't forget this year! :)

jabin & i made the cake on friday, brought it to him saturday and he love it! grandpa even shared some of the cake with us on sunday. that was a real treat! i had brought the boys over to great-grandma & grandpa's house so they could play there while i went to my cousin's baby shower. they had a great time.

i hope you have all had a wonderful day!

we cooked a turkey {with my hero husband getting it ready & in the oven for us} along all the fixings and spent the day at home together. we didn't have any visitors, but it was nice to talk to a few friends & family on the phone. :) we also watched a charlie brown thanksgiving and ate popcorn.

i have been {trying} to get in the holiday card/gift making mood… it just hasn’t been working out so well for me. so yesterday i decided that i needed to clean-up my stamp room, listen to some Christmas music and put out a few holiday decorations.

here is what i put out on my stamp room work tables:

today while i was out & about i picked up some small candy canes. now that the boys are home from school & seen the candy canes they have decided that the {tree} needs candy canes.

my {mama} station

since moving my stamp room to the basement i've been wanting my own {mama} station in the den. a place for my control journal/calendar {or i should say out of control journal/calendar! :)}, my family file basket and the boys' school files.

i just didn't want to spend lots of $$ for a desk because really the whole room needs something done with it. but for now i just need something that would do ...just to get all of that {stuff} out of the kitchen.

my solution??

a desk for $15

mod podge

and

black spray paint

optional: an old stained~up/painted~up sweatshirt :)

i just painted the desk white, added the scrapbook paper to the top with mod podge and spray painted the drawer pulls black.

tonight at our scrap n' stampers class we are having a stamp {your} stack night. i am excited to go. it seems like FOREVER since i've been to class!!

here is my card idea for tonight:

for the stamp {your} stack you bring a card sample and the supplies, like the stamp set, ink, embossing folder, glitter, etc. to make the card. everyone else brings their own card stock and goes around to stations to make the cards. what a GREAT idea angie & kelsey had! :)

i stamped last night and a little tonight. thus the cards & stuff on my work island. i am working on thank you cards for october orders that i am {truly} grateful for! i hope to get them out soon.
i just wrapped some chocolate bars for evan & jabin's teachers in designer series paper that said:

i have a {new} stampin' up! order just waiting to be taken out of the box & played with. {this means that ann, sandy & lou i have your petal dies!!} have you checked out the clearance rack yet?? what are you waiting for?!!? :)

my project life album is on my island. i am also catching up on that! i have taken a picture a day since january 1st & i keep a notebook as a little journal, i just need to write on the {journal cards} for the album.
i {still} have on my to do list to take pictures of my "new" room & scrapbooking organization stuff , plan some classes, clean the house & do some laundry. :)
i have been running all over creation for the past week, so when i didn't have an appointment today i was able to go with the boys on a field trip---that made me a happy mama!
i can't eat or drink after midnight tonight so i'm going to go eat something quick! :)
we don't have any weddings this weekend, just my mother-in-law's birthday on sunday!! {happy birthday grandma KC!!}

ah, the side entry area.

this space needed some help.

as much as i LOVE the mirror & our family baskets hanging in this space, i didn't like the fact that this arrangement just was not working for our family & this busy little space!

at first greg didn't want to build anything, so i searched for benches to buy. then thought again when they ranged from $300 to $1,000. ouch! then i thought... maybe {we} should make some, we build a house why can we make a bench! but the answer was still: building a house is one thing, building furniture is another.

THEN i found *this* site and fell in LOVE with the cubbies. {i wanted the cubbies!} so the weekend of my mom's wedding i asked my aunt sue if she thought my uncle don would maybe help "me" build some cubbies if i came over one day. {did i mention greg was there at the time?} EVANdentaly, i forgot to mention to greg that i would {help} make the cubbies... and i might have offended that certain someone, by asking someone else for help.

well, i still wanted the cubbies so i kept on checking ana's site for the cubbie plans and nothing. then one day that week in the mail i got my FreshHome magazine and there in the back was... get this... ana, the cubbies and the plans! i was super excited!! :) {that post can be found *here* }

by the end of that busy week, greg said he had to go to menards. that is common practice around here, so when i did ask for what, imagine my delight when he said for the cubbie supplies! :)

so in between resting & feeling sick on oct 3rd i helped build some cubbies with my family! i say family because the boys helped out too! :)

saturday before tina's wedding greg sanded the cubbies. by late sunday afternoon the kids & i painted the cubbies and greg finished attatching the rest of the pcs.

{gotta love sunday's picture of the day!}

after one final trip to menards for screws {to hang the star hooks} we have in our side entryway a beautiful {hand made by the fribergs} cubbie!

i LOVE it!! and i think i love it even more because {we} made it!! i knew greg could do it, and i knew i could "try" and help. :) we had most of the tools he just had to buy one new kreg jig thing, and now that he has that--- just think of what else he... um, i totally meant we.. could build! :)

my sister tina got married on saturday! it was such a beautiful day!! i feel very blessed that we got to share their special day!! :)

it's about time!

yes it is about time! after 24 years together my mom & ted just got married on a beautiful fall day, september 25th, 2010. i might be a little selfish here but i am SO glad i don't have to say this any more when talking about my mom & ted... i'll say: my mom & step-dad ted, well he's not really my step-dad because they are not married {yet} but they have been together for like forever, so i just call him my step-dad. {then i take a moment to breath!} :)

they got married in front of their camper, up north, by the camp fire.

one big family of his & hers

many family members & friends were there to celebrate this joyous occasion! after the wedding was a good old pot-luck reception and later the bar had a band so there was even some dancing going on. {i'm not one to brag, but i hit that keg of 1919 rootbeer pretty hard!} :)

a few more highlights & the first day of school...

here are a few more things we did since the last post...

carol asked us to do her a {favor} and pick her raspberries on day when she couldn't. so we picked and we picked and we picked rasberries {we ate quite a few too!} they were good on ice cream and in *this* dessert! and we have quite a few frozen bags to use this winter! grandma linda gave the boys some pumpkin seeds in their easter baskets last spring. so we planted the seeds the first part of june and we have some {HUGE} pumpkins growing in win & jane's garden! we picked two to enjoy at home. one was 36.2 lbs and the other was 39 lbs!!

our last {cousin} day at tina's. it was so fun this summer to get-together at least once a week with the kids! :)

the first day of school! my 2nd graders!! they are so excited for the school year.

greg took the day off to see the boys off, to watch evan say the Pledge of Allegiance over the loud speaker at school, and so he could be here for chocolate chip cookies after school! :)

the ending of summer vacation

well school starts on Sept 1st and we are trying to enjoy every last day of august!

yesterday the boys played in the pool until their feet were all wrinkled up!

today jabin picked 5 raspberries from our newly planted raspberry seedlings. {seen in the background}
carol, a stamp customer/friend, let us come to her house {twice} to dig up the seedlings. the first time we went to get them it started pouring rain so we just went back the next day. :) {thanks carol!!}

saturday we stopped at malva's, a stamp customer/friend to drop off her order. she wasn't there, but she had some wild varmints digging at the carrots in her beautiful garden. we {chased} them away and managed to get some pictures of the varmints a few minuets later...

we have been getting ready for school by cleaning rooms & closets. since the boys are SO into legos and they just didn't have the space for them in their room {and I don't like stepping on legos in the middle of the night} we cleaned out some toys in the play room and made them NEW lego creation stations.

the boys have been saving their own money to buy legos this summer! {it helps to have a july birthday!!}

i had an idea of how i wanted the space set-up, but they both had a say in how they wanted it and we all worked so hard to get everything set up.

the main things were a work table, jabin suggested one for each of them, a shelf to put finished sets on and some kind of drawers to put their own extra parts in. oh, and what to do with the boxes??!!??

the boxes... they are such inspiration to the boys when they are creating their lego sets that i wanted them to have access them. since the wall are not finished i just poked a hole in the back of the box, pounded a nail in the wall and hung up the box. :) how simple. they can take down any box and put it back on the wall when they are done!!

so far so good. they LOVE their lego creation stations, i LOVE that the legos are out of their bedroom, {and the den, my stamp room, the kitchen, the dining room, living room, etc.} they are in one spot and they boys can be playing down stairs when i am working in my stamp room. i also LOVE that we used things found in other areas of the house to complete the project, so it didn't even cost anything!

and on a funny little note:

i am the official sticker put-er-on-er for all the lego sets around here, so jabin & evan found a bell that i had in my stamp room from my mom {one like you would normally "ring for service"} and when they ring the bell it is time for me to go put a sticker on. :)

just for fun here are the 4th & 5th picture i took when we went digital back in march of 2004:

{this is evan- i still remember is giggles that day, he WAS so excited about the new camera!}

and here i am so many pictures later to last last one i took {so far} today...

perfect and not so perfect pictures...
i love them all.
i love that i can look back & catch a glimpse of the past.
i love to remember how things were.
to see how my babies have grown.
i love that my screen saver pulls pictures from my files and does a random slide show.
i love that we took the time to take the pictures we did, eventhough i didn't do much with the pictures then, i have them now and that is all that matters to me. :)

do i have a fancy camera? nope.
just the kodak one we bought back in 2004. it's a kodak 4.0 mega pixel easy share DX6440. {yes, i confess- i've even dropped it a few times.}
it has been a good little camera. :)

do i have a fancy editing program? nope.
{i'd love one though!!!} so for now i just work with what i have.
maybe i'll get something this fall & take a class through community ed or something, that would be fun! :)

what about scrapbooking all the pictures i take??
i don't feel the need to scrapbook all of the pictures i take,
but i do want to scrapbook some of them!

sometimes i feel like i am just a "wanna-be" scrapbooker, since i don't have tons of pages done, when I do have tons of photos & tons of supplies.

i guess i had {and still have :)} so many questions on how to...
~"start"
~what kind of albums to use {post or ring}
~how to sort completed pages
~if i make one page do i need to make two?
{one for each child or another for me}
~how to sort & store my photos
...the list {in my head} goes on & on! :)

so to cut my own guilt of the "wanna-be" in me, i needed a plan & to focus on the the good things that i have & that i have done.

here are some of the good things i have:
~cute boys, family & friends to take pictures of
~ the pictures i've been taking
~the memorabilia i've saved
~lots of notes {taken on little scraps of paper,
notebooks and on my planner pages}
~no guilt {ok, so i just have "less" guilt now} but defiantly more focus! :)

i am currently and have been working on {my} library of memories.
i bought the book on february 27th, 2009
and i have been ever so s-l-o-w-l-y
getting {my} library of memories in place.

for example:
it has taken me over a year, with a little time here & there, just to sort photo files on my computer, up-load my photos to my favorite printing site, print the ones i {might} want to scrapbook and sort them into storage binders.

PhotoFreedom has truly been my FAVORITE scrapbooking book EVER!!
there are SO many things to love about the whole library of memories concept.

i {love} how mine is coming together & i can't wait to share it with you!!

BUT- as much as i'd love to share more now, i need to get my little choppers to bed! :)

plus, get this, i need to take some "more" pictures of my {system} so i can share it with you! :)

august 2010 club cards

here are the cards we made this week at my stamp club...

for the first set of cards we used whisper white card stock, chocolate chip ink and the stamp sets:

a word for you

every little bit

i love how clean & simple these look.

{we colored them with crayons}

for the second set of cards we used the single stamp baby steps with pretty in pink ink & card stock and marina mist ink & card stock. it is stamped on whisper white and layered on certainly celery card stock.

the third card was made with a crumb cake card stock base, early espresso ink, tangerine tango, tempting turquoise & early espresso card stock, the new vintage wall paper embossing folder, early espresso 1/8" taffeta ribbon and the stamp set friends never fade.

{evan}dently we started a tradition last year by taking the boys to the mall of america on their birthday {july 28th}, because after swimming lessons that is where we went again. :)

Birthday morning was like Christmas morning-- up at 5:30 am to find the presents! there is nothing like putting new lego sets together at 5:45 in the morning! i guess it worked out, because greg got to give the boys their gifts before he went to work.

while working on his lego set, evan noticed a deer in the yard. {granted we live in the woods, but we hardly ever see deer!} when we looked we saw a fawn and when we looked up the path we saw another fawn and the mother. how {sweet} to see twin deer & the mother on your twins' birthday!

in the morning we also had to run to gramma kathy's and then come home and get ready for our day. we had swimming lessons, then went to pick up greg, drove to IKEA, greg & the boys ate a little lunch i had packed while i ran in and did some returns. {it was SO hard for me not to go shopping there!!} THEN it was off to the mall!!

since the boys had some birthday money they could not WAIT to go to lego land! they also LOVED the rides. and a birthday wouldn't be complete without a {mountain} cake from chili's!

this year we were out late and the boys tried SO hard to stay awake on the way home so they could put their new lego sets together. but it got awfully quiet in the back seat and they just couldn't stay awake after our LONG day. so they spent the next few morning working on the new sets.

i'll have to post pictures of the family party another day. that was a nice day also!! we celebrated evan, jabin, amaya & kaylee jo's birthday's on august 1st at the clear lake park.
